How it works

Each person receives the following each week:

  • 4 entrees - two vegetarian and two with meat

  • 1 quart of soup

  • hearty salad

  • healthy dessert

  • 1 quart of immune broth

  • bread products from Little Rooster Bread Company, when available

Meals are provided for 12-24 weeks based on need and availability

Meals service is free although donations are much appreciated.

Meals are prepared and delivered only on Wednesdays. Meals are delivered between 6:00 - 7:00pm during the school year and during the summer months meals may be delivered between 3:00 - 6:00 depending on the availability of the delivery driver and your schedule.

Client Criteria:

  1. Has a cancer diagnosis or life- threatening condition and is currently going through treatment

  2. Healthy meals can support the patient in dealing successfully with their illness. (We don’t serve those in the late stages of life or hospice care.)

  3. Does not have a specialized dietary need or more food allergies than we can accommodate. (We are a volunteer operated program and have a limited capacity to handle special food needs.)

  4. Those with a minimal support system to help provide healthy meals during the treatment and recovery process.

  5. Willing to try new foods and eat healthy meals. Ideally, for those who it will help change their eating habits towards healthier choices to support survivorship.

  6. Lives in the Grand Rapids area with a Grand Rapids address. We can occasionally make exceptions for the nearby surrounding area if we have room in the program and meals can be picked up. Someone must be home for meals to be delivered.

  7. Meals are available for delivery Wednesday evenings between 6 - 7pm. Someone must be home to receive meals, they cannot be left on a porch. If meals are being picked up, meals are available for pick up on Wednesday evening between 6 - 6:45pm in downtown Grand Rapids.
