Kitchen Assistant
Job Type: Part-Time | 16-20 hours per week
Pay: $17/hour
Schedule: Tuesdays (10 AM - 6 PM) and Wednesdays (11:30 AM - 6:30 PM)

Position Overview: Revive & Thrive Project is a dynamic nonprofit that prepares and delivers medically supportive meals to individuals facing serious health challenges. Our commercial kitchen is a vibrant, collaborative space where adult and teen volunteers come together to nourish our community.
As Kitchen Assistant, you will play an essential role in kitchen operations; supporting the Executive Chef in meal preparation and occasionally filling in to lead the kitchen when needed. You will also help guide and work alongside our teen volunteers in our Teen Chef program, making this an excellent opportunity for anyone who enjoys mentoring young people while building professional culinary skills.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to gain experience in a commercial kitchen, work with a positive team, and contribute to a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Executive Chef in preparing high-quality, healing meals.
Fill in to lead kitchen operations as needed when the Executive Chef is unavailable.
Train and supervise adult and high school teen volunteers to ensure consistency in food quality, portion sizes, and kitchen procedures.
Foster a positive, inclusive environment for teen and adult volunteers.
Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, and presentation.
Manage inventory and supplies, minimizing waste and ensuring kitchen is well-stocked.
Pick up food orders and deliveries as necessary; ensure accuracy of items received.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness, enforce sanitation and safety standards, and ensure compliance with local health codes and food handling regulations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a kitchen environment or a similar role is preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with high school volunteers; comfortable providing guidance and mentorship.
Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and automotive liability insurance (required for picking up food orders).
