Walk for Good Food

Access Walk for Good Food is on May 3rd. The goal of the Walk is to fund non-profit organizations (including Revive & Thrive Project) that address issues of food access and poverty. The efforts of these nonprofit organizations align with the definition of Good Food, which is that Good Food is:

Healthy (provides nourishment and enables people to thrive)
Fair (no one along the production line was exploited during its creation)
Affordable (all people have access to it)
Green (produced in an environmentally sustainable manner)

The work of the Revive & Thrive Project and the other organizations involved with Walk for Good ranges from community gardening and urban farming, nutrition programs, food pantries and meal programs, to food justice and community development initiatives. Our collaborative work has a vision of a thriving Good Food system for all people.

Over the last 43 years, the Walk has raised over $6 million for dozens of local non-profit organizations. Our goal this year is to have over 750 walkers and raise $85,000.

HELP SUPPORT THE REVIVE & THRIVE PROJECT raise much need funds by joining the 5k walk, sponsoring the event or making a donation.

CELEBRATE THE HARVEST

Revive & Thrive Project invites you to Celebrate the Harvest with us!

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 | 5:30PM

Join us at The Lit, a newly renovated historic downtown Grand Rapids venue. Enjoy a unique farm to table dinner featuring local, fresh, seasonal food from our local farmers. There will also be a silent and live auction.

Our keynote speaker, Dawn Opel PhD, is an assistant professor at Michigan State University. She will be discussing putting “Food is Medicine” into action in the state of Michigan. Dr. Opel is a community-engaged action researcher, and partners with nonprofit, government, and healthcare organizations to better coordinate care for patients.

WZZM 13's health reporter and co-host of My West Michigan at 13 on Your Side, Val Lego, will emcee the event. Val has been awarded eight Emmy's and reports on fitness, health and medical breakthroughs in West Michigan.

Proceeds support our mission to provide home delivered meals to those facing a life-threatening illness (such as cancer), empower young people with healthy cooking and job skills, and support local sustainable agriculture.
